Ground Investigation

Dynamic Cone Penetrometer

The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer test (DCP) is a relatively simple lightweight test to determine the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of various strata either from existing ground level or from the underside of a concrete slab.

The DCP test is a useful method for determining the capacity of floor slabs and the underlying strata to accept increased loading in commercial buildings.

Typical depth acheived is between 1m and 2.5m.

Windowless Sampling

Windowless sampling is a method of obtaining undisturbed soil samples and is frequently used in conjunction with the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer.

Samples can be retrieved to a depth of 3m.
