Dust Sampling

Concrete dust sampling is undertaken using a rotary percussive drill with the concrete dust samples being collected in sample bags. Dust sampling is usually undertaken in 25mm increments after the coatings and finishes have been removed and can be used to determine the chloride, sulphate, alkali etc content of the concrete. Alternatively small diameter concrete core samples can be extracted.

Similarly concrete dust samples can be collected from various structural elements to determine the cement content of the concrete. Ideally samples should be taken from representative members and this will depend on the type and complexity of the structure (eg beams, walls, slabs, columns etc)
